How terminals are used

A terminal block is a component used to connect and secure wires that can be connected to equipment or other electronic components. They usually consist of two main parts: a ring or U-shaped terminal block and a rotatable screw. The use of terminals can effectively reduce wire damage and poor contact, and improve the reliability and safety of the circuit.

First, insert the wire into the ring or U-shaped groove of the terminal block, and then clamp it with screws. Before inserting the wire, it is necessary to strip the insulation layer at the end of the wire to ensure that the metal of the wire can fully contact the terminal. Insert the wires deep enough that they won’t come loose, but not so deep that they can be damaged.

Secondly, before clamping the screws, you should use pliers or scissors to trim the ends of the wires neatly, which will help the screws apply force evenly and prevent the wires from breaking or not being clamped tightly. In addition, do not use too large or too small terminals, you should choose the appropriate specification according to the diameter and current value of the wire to ensure a stable and durable connection.

Finally, test that the connection is reliable. You can use a multimeter to test the resistance or continuity of the connections. If you don’t have access to a multimeter, you can test for a secure connection by touching the ends of wires and other electrical components.

In conclusion, a terminal block is an easy-to-use and reliable connection element that can be used to connect wires in various electronic devices and circuits. With just accurate wire stripping, proper selection and use of terminals, and proper testing and calibration, we can build safe, reliable electrical and electronic systems.
